Rules
Here are the Rules for 2013 -
- All tip reminders are via the website. If you ever have trouble with website you can email your selections to - gdeevs@yahoo.com.au
- There will be reminders a week before each tip, usually during the week and the day each tip is due
- All tips are due the day before an event starts before 11.55 pm
- If you forget tips there are two mulligans where you will receive the most common selection from the remaining tipsters
- Tips can be changed up until the cut off time and the most recent tip will be accepted
- Tips received after the cutoff may be accepted if event has not started or no unfair advantage has been gained i.e. information has come out that no one else had prior to cut off
Events -
- The list of events that is published at the start of the competition are the core events, wildcards can only be used on these events
- Events can be added to the competition up until the start of august if there has been an oversight and an event warrants inclusion
- Wildcards may not be used on these events as that would not be fair to people who had already used wildcards and would have saved one for this new event had they known it was going to be included
- If you have an event that you think would add to the competition, do not hesitate to contact administration as we are constantly looking for new sports
Scoring
Drop Down Bars
- Tips are worth:
- 1st = 20 points
- 2nd = 12 points
- 3rd = 8 points
- 4th = 4 points
- In the event of a tie the points are added together and divided e.g if there was a winner, 2 people tied for 2nd and a 4th place, points would be as follows 1st = 20, 2nd & 3rd would be, 12 + 8 divided by two = 10 points each and 4th = 4 - if three or more people tie then the points will be added and divided by the corresponding number
- You have 5 wildcards to use throughout the year where you will be awarded double points for that event
- Roughies points - if you tip something that no one else has, you will receive double points for that event, if you tip something that only two or three people have and it wins you will receive a bonus 10 roughie points, and if it comes 2nd you will receive a bonus 5 rough points
Drop Down Bars
- Selections in the drop down bars are there for two reasons, one to make it easier for you with probable participants or recent participants and they are also there to make marking and scoring easier
- No responsibility is taken for people playing for different teams, injured or just not playing - Do your own research and if your selection is not in the drop down bar select other and write in the space provided
Woods / Federer Rule
- For Tennis and Golf tips, to make it more interesting, you can only tip a golfer/tennis player once during the year
- If you choose somebody twice, that selection will not count and you will be given a mulligan if you have any left , the mulligan will be the most common person tipped that you have not already selected - if you have no mulligans left you get no selection for that event
- If given a player as a mulligan that will count as the one time you are allowed to select that person
- To avoid selecting the same person twice, check the previous events on the submitted tips page
- Selections will be checked after an event has been completed, anyone that scores points will be checked to see if they have selected that person before and if so those points will not count and you will receive no selection for that event - it is your responsibility to check past selections
Horse Racing
- All tipsters should also select a back up selection for horse racing in case of a late scratching
Motor Sport
- Championship winner for the Moto GP, V8 Supercars & Formula 1, as these events do not finish until after the Melbourne Cup which is the traditional final event, the winner will be decided by the standings after the latest race prior to the melbourne cup - those being, according to the latest schedule -
- V8 Supercars - Nov 1-3, United Arab Emirates
- Formula 1 - Nov 3, Abu Dhabi event
- Moto GP - Oct 27, Japan event
- This is correct at time of writing, if schedule changes it will still be the standings after the final event prior to the Melbourne Cup
World Cup
- Each of the group winners will be worth 2 points with a further 4 bonus points awarded if all 8 are correctly chosen
